10 students tell us how they're staying happy & healthy during social distancing
In times of big shifts and uncertainty - we’re talking to you 2020- we all have our processes and strategies for honoring emotions, staying productive, and keeping connected. Rather than giving you a list of ways we think might be helpful (though we’re always more than happy to chat!) we asked 10 of our students ages 5-11 how they’re staying happy, healthy, and connected at home.
We’re inspired and we hope you are too!
“Every morning when we wake up me and my sister play the song by Bob Marley that says don’t worry about a thing. My mom says you can’t listen to it and not smile and it’s pretty true.” -Sophie, age 8
“Me and my sister put on our bathing suits and go in the tub and pretend we’re on the beach. We have lots of seashells from the real beach so we bring them in there and pretend we’re collecting them and the other day we had popsicles in the tub. The rocketship ones!” -Jason, age 7
“I’m spending a ton of time with my dog. Not that I didn’t before but my favorite part of the day is always going for walks with him and teaching him tricks.” -Elias, age 11
“I’m happy when I’m with my family and do paintings.” -Eric, age 5
“I make dinner with my dad. We get food we like and make a big huge feast for my mom, my sisters, and my brother. I fold napkins and we put candles on the table. Sometimes we dress up and play some music.” -Allyson, age 8
“I get to stay in my pajamas!” -Jayden, age 6
“I’m reading and drawing a lot. I’m making a picture for all of my friends and teachers for when I can see them again.” -Laila, age 9
“I’m trying to do one handed push ups!!” -Alsonso, age 10
“I read out loud to my mom and my sister. I can read now, did you know?” -Rose, age 5
“I look in the mirror every morning and say, “hey girl, you’re special.” -Jaynalise, age 11
